Welcome to Fetish Week.

Unleash your kinky side with three tales of BDSM romance in an exclusive Mediterranean sex resort from three hot erotica writers, including New York Times bestselling author, Sara Fawkes.

TAKE ME by Sara Fawkes The minute sexy hotel manager Alexander Stavros spots shy, sweet Kate Swansea at the Mancusi resort, he can tell she’s begging for release. This Dom is the perfect man to help her… if she’s willing to let go of her inhibitions and enjoy the ride.

 TEACH ME by Cathryn Fox There’s nothing Luca Mancusi loves more than lingerie. So much so, he’s made it his business. Fashion design intern Josie Pelletier is supposed to be negotiating a deal with him, but as talks heat up, he can’t wait to teach her the ways of business…and BDSM.

TAME ME by Lauren Hawkeye CEO Marco Kennedy can’t help being drawn to Ariel Monroe. When he follows the pop star abroad to the Mancusi resort, she agrees to a deal: He’ll win her as a sub through pleasure…or he’ll disappear from her life. Ariel’s game…just as long as she doesn’t lose her heart too.

And now to the Special Bonus Scene!!!!

Tame Me (Fling)
Bonus Scene
By Lauren Hawkeye

 “I can’t believe we have to leave tomorrow.” Ariel Monroe rolled over on the massive bed and looked up through the golden fringe of her bangs. She groaned dramatically, playfully, and her lover, Marco Kennedy, grinned in response.

That grin faded as he studied her closer, crossing the plush carpeting of their suite to sit beside her. The mattress dipped beneath his weight, causing Ariel to slide closer to the heat of his long, hard body.

“What’s got you so worried, pet?” Taking her chin in his hands, Marco looked Ariel right in the eye, his expression the calm in the storm of her emotions.

 She didn’t try to pull away, didn’t try to hide what she was feeling. They’d only been together for two weeks, but she already knew that he wouldn’t settle for anything less than complete honesty and openness.

“I—” The words stuck in her throat, and she tried to swallow past the lump that they created. The fingers holding her chin squeezed, urging her on.

“I’m worried about what will happen when we get back to the real world.” Propping herself up onto her elbows, Ariel blew her bangs out of her eyes and looked up at Marco, her expression more than a little mournful. She knew she was probably being silly… probably getting ahead of herself…

But the thought that what she had with Marco might not survive outside the walls of Italy’s Mancusi Resort hurt more than she cared to admit.

“What do you think will happen?” Marco’s voice was even, but Ariel thought she caught a hint of irritation, gone so quickly that she might have imagined it.

Still, she shifted warily. She’d been surprised to discover that she liked pleasing Marco—that she had a deep seated desire to do so.

But he’d asked her to tell him what was bothering her. Though they weren’t in formal Dom/ sub mode, she knew better than to disobey him.

“We’re both going to go back to work,” she started, squealing when Marco gathered her in his arms and pulled her into his lap, holding her close, his hand at the back of her neck. She stroked her fingers idly up and down his biceps—God, those biceps. She could stare at them for days.

“And?” Marco’s hand landed on her upper thigh, distracting Ariel from what she’d been about to say. When he cleared his throat, Ariel forced herself to continue.

“And I’m afraid you’re going to start to think of me like everyone else does,” she blurted out in one big rush. “I’m not worried that you’re after my money, of course—you’ve got plenty of your own. But I’m not the same person that I am on stage. I’m afraid you’re going to start thinking that I’m like… that.”

Ariel cringed as soon as the words were out of her mouth. She was a singer, what the tabloids termed a 'pop princess’. On stage she wore next to nothing and acted like a tramp. She didn’t mind, because it wasn’t really her.

 But more than one boyfriend had accused her of being a whore. Of fucking her way to the top.

The hand resting on her thigh squeezed, and the air fell ominously silent. Her pulse began to skitter through her veins, warning her of what her eyes told her only a moment later.

 She’d pissed off her Dom. And that could be a very dangerous thing to do.

 “Do you mean to say that you think I am going to think less of you when you return to the job that I already know you do?” Marco’s free hand moved from the nape of Ariel’s neck and down, sliding down her spine, over the wing of her shoulder blade and around to cup possessively over her breast.

“Um…” Ariel’s voice trailed off as her blood began to heat, both with nerves and with anticipation.

“Answer me.” Marco’s talented fingers pinched her nipple, hard enough to make her cry out.

“I… I don’t know. Sir. I hope not.” Her voice was breathless as Marco pinched the hard nub of flesh again.

“Hmm.” Without warning Marco stood, gathering Ariel in his arms. She was lifted, then lowered, turned so that she spread over the crisp duvet on her front.

She felt Marco position her limbs like she was a doll, tucking her elbows beneath her, spreading her legs.

She began to tremble.

“Don’t move. Don’t speak.” Marco’s voice was a low growl, and Ariel buried her face in the covers as she listened to his footsteps walking away. Finding a cool spot on the sheets, she pressed the suddenly feverish skin of her cheeks to it, desperate for just a moment of relief.

“I’m going to gag you now, Ariel. Do you understand why?” Marco was back, and Ariel felt the softness of a scarf trailing over the skin of her back. Goosebumps rose in its wake.

He’d asked her a question, but he hadn’t yet given her permission to speak, so Ariel nodded her head, the movement jerky.

 “Tell me.”

The silk of the scarf brushed over her lips tantalizingly, making her mouth water. She wished it was the head of Marco’s cock, rather than silk.

 “I… you’re gagging me because I… because I said that… I thought you might think differently of me. Out there.” The end of her sentence was cut off as Marco gently but with sure movements placed the scarf over her parted lips.

“Smart girl.” Marco pulled the silk over her cheeks and around, securing the ends behind Ariel’s head. Her tongue flicked out to dampen the slick fabric.

“The gag is to prevent any more insulting comments from leaving those sexy lips of yours.” Marco moved out of Ariel’s line of sight, and she squirmed with anticipation.

She heard a metallic snick, and then something cold closed over each ankle. She tried to move, found she couldn’t close her legs.

 Her excitement grew.

 “Now I’m going to flog you. I’m going to use a pussy whip right on that pretty pink cunt until you come. You’re going to have to take it. What you feel on your ankles are the cuffs to a spreader bar. No closing your legs until I say so.”

 Excitement fizzed through Ariel’s veins, hot and heady, as she listened to the sounds of Marco undressing behind her. She could just imagine what a picture he made, tall and rock solid, his olive skin glowing in the late afternoon sun, his erect cock in his fist, the tip already wet with arousal.

“I’m going to flog you until you come. Remember that if you’re thinking of trying to postpone the pleasure.”

Ariel heard the sound of the pussy whip slicing through the air before the supple leather ribbons landed on the juncture of her thighs.

She cried out, her voice echoing off the high walls of the suite. Heat rushed to the small area that the flogger had struck, and the cooler air of the room was a delicious contrast—almost too much.

 Instinctively she tried to close her legs. That she couldn’t caused arousal to surge through her in a tidal wave.

 “A lovely start. I do so enjoy seeing my mark on your skin.” Marco flicked the flogger again, then again, alighting nerve endings in a small circle of flesh.

God, but the man was good at this.

“Now.”

Ariel’s scream was muffled by the silken gag as the pussy whip landed right on the engorged flesh of her clit. Her body tightened like a rubber band stretched too tight, then snapped like that same elastic.

The orgasm was hot and hard, nearly brutal in its intensity.

When she would have collapsed onto the bed, Marco clasped her hips in strong hands. Positioning his cock at her entrance, he entered her in one hard thrust, setting a brutal pace that made Ariel’s breath catch in her throat.

When his own breath grew ragged and his thrusts short and hard, Ariel felt Marco tug at the fastening of her gag. The silk fell free, and she moaned as Marco seated himself inside of her one final time, the heat of his release spilling down the insides of her thighs.

 “Mine,” he growled as he squeezed her hips and, finally, stilled. Ariel collapsed onto the bed, feeling Marco’s weight on top of her, heavy and reassuring. “No matter what.”

 What they had between them was real. It could withstand the pressures of the real world.

 Sleepy and spent, Ariel smiled as Marco dipped his head and pressed a soft kiss to the stripe of her spine. Satisfaction, calm, love surged through her, and she was content.

 “Yes,” she agreed, arching into the press of his lips on her skin.

 “Yours.”

CHASING MORGAN
Chapter One
One year ago…

Morgan’s fingers flew across the laptop keyboard propped on her knees. She took a deep breath, cleared her mind, and looked out past her pink-painted toes propped on the railing and across her yard to the densely wooded area at the edge of her property. Her mind’s eye found her guest winding his way through the trees. She still had time before Jack stepped out of the woods separating her land from his. She couldn’t wait to meet him.

Images, knowings, they just came to her. She’d accepted that part of herself a long time ago. As she got older, she’d learned to use her gift to seek out answers.

She finished her buy and sell orders and switched from her day trading page to check her psychic website and read the questions submitted by customers. She answered several quickly, letting the others settle in her mind until the answers came to her.

 One stood out. The innocuous question about getting a job held an eerie vibe.

The familiar strange pulsation came over her. The world disappeared like a door slamming on reality. The images came to her like hammer blows, one right after the other, and she took the onslaught, knowing something important needed to be seen and understood.

An older woman lying in a bed, hooked up to a machine feeding her medication. Frail and ill, she had translucent skin and dark circles marring her pain-filled eyes. Her pain washed over Morgan like a tsunami.

The woman yelled at someone, her face contorted into something mean and hateful. An unhappy woman – one who’d spent her whole life blaming others and trying to make them as miserable as her.

A pristine white pillow floating down, inciting panic, amplified to terror when it covered the woman’s face, her frail body swallowed by the sheets.

Morgan had an overwhelming feeling of suffocating.

The woman tried desperately to suck in a breath, but couldn’t. Unable to move her lethargic limbs, she lay terrified and helpless under his unyielding hands. Lights flashed on her closed eyelids.

 Death came calling.

A man stood next to the bed holding the pillow like a shield. His mouth opened on a contorted, evil, hysterical laugh that rang in her ears and made her skin crawl. She squeezed her eyes closed to blot out his malevolent image and thoughts.

Murderer!

The word rang in her head as the terrifying emotions overtook her.

Morgan threw up a wall in her mind, blocking the onslaught of disturbing pictures and feelings. She took several deep breaths and concentrated on the white roses growing in profusion just below the porch railing. Their sweet fragrance filled the air. With every breath, she centered herself and found her inner calm, pushing out the anger and rage left over from the vision. Her body felt like a lead weight, and lightened as her energy came back. The drowsiness faded with each new breath. She’d be fine in a few minutes.

The man on horseback emerged from the trees, coming toward her home. Her guest had arrived.

Focused on the computer screen, she slowly and meticulously typed her answer to the man who had asked about a job and inadvertently opened himself up to telling her who he really was at the heart.

She replied simply.

You’ll get the job, but you can’t hide from what you did.

You need help. Turn yourself in to the police.

 None of her personal information appeared on the website, and she’d put a lot of time and effort into keeping her identity and location a secret for reasons of her own. He’d never find her.

A chill ran over her, despite the warm sun on her skin.

 She put through the charge and tried to erase the vision from her mind. She’d told him to go to the police. Nothing more she could do. She didn’t have any proof a crime had been committed. You couldn’t make accusations against people based on a vision. Even if she went to the police with what she knew, they wouldn’t take her seriously. She’d learned that the hard way.

The help she provided Tyler and the FBI was different. Her unique link with Tyler allowed her to assist him with some of his cases. Tyler had nothing to do with this man. She could ask him to investigate, but why would he? He had a hard enough time believing what she told him about the cases he was working on.

She didn’t want to have to convince him all over again that what she saw was real and true. It hurt to have to convince him every time, despite the ample proof she’d given him on multiple cases. After all this time, he should believe her - believe in her. She didn’t want to think about Tyler right now. He’d be in Colorado today. Close. Their connection that much stronger, and the harder he’d ignore it and push her away. Maybe she should give in and go see him.

Why couldn’t he stay in San Francisco?

 It wasn’t time for them to meet again. She sighed and tried to put him out of her mind. Not possible. They were connected on an elemental level, and had been for a long time.

Why did things between them have to be so complicated and difficult?

Dealing with her customers was simple. They went to her website and clicked on the link to ask a question. She charged fifteen dollars for requests she answered. If she couldn’t answer the question, or wouldn’t answer, she didn’t charge and sent a standard reply, telling the person she couldn’t help.

 Either the person believed in her enough to pay the fifteen dollars, or they didn’t.

Sure, they had to accept her Terms and Conditions. After all, what she “saw“ was open to interpretation and the result may not be what the customer expected. In shirt, if they didn’t like the answer, they couldn’t shoot the messenger.

 She specifically informed customers to beware what they ask, and how they ask it. You may get the answer to a question you hadn’t intended.

If you suspected your spouse of cheating on you, don’t be surprised if she confirmed it, and that the other person is your best friend. She wouldn’t lie, or tell you only what you wanted to hear.

In a few cases, she simply refused to answer. People often wanted to know when they were going to die and how. Her opinion, this kind of information did more harm than good. It usually altered the course of a person’s life, and she didn’t want to be responsible for changing one’s fate and destiny.

 One thing she knew for certain, life had a pattern. Mistakes are repeated until the lesson is learned. Knowing something ahead of time didn’t necessarily mean you could change the outcome. Some things were meant to be and nothing could stop them from ending the same way she saw them, even if the path that led to that end took a detour first. That wasn’t to say the course of the future couldn’t be altered. It could. She’d done it several times. For Tyler’s family, she’d do it again. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But wait~ Here's an excerpt of chapter 1 in this anticipated novella!!!

Chapter One

Sergeant Vic Carponti paused outside his company operations office, taking a deep breath. It was funny how their corner of Fort Hood felt deserted the night before a deployment. The company colors had already been cased. They would uncase them in a few weeks, once they got settled into their new home across the ocean in the middle of the war.

He didn’t know why this deployment was bothering him so much. It wasn’t his first time heading off to war, so he knew what to expect when the shit hit the fan in combat. But there was something hanging over his head this time. A fear that maybe this time his luck would run out.

He sighed and rubbed his face with both hands before walking into the company ops. The only thing they’d left up was the plaque that bore the names of their fallen brothers from the last deployment. The commander—Captain Trent Davila, a man Carponti had known for years—was planning on carrying that with him personally so it couldn’t ever get lost.

And so no one would ever forget. Carponti reached up and took it gently off the wall, then strolled into his company commander’s office with a nonchalance painted on his face that he damn sure didn’t feel. But people expected him to laugh and joke and make them forget the bad shit all around and so that’s what he was going to do.

“Don’t forget this,” he said, placing the plaque on Trent’s desk. He plopped down in a chair, then kicked his feet up on Trent’s desk. “Are you coming out with us tonight?”

Captain Trent Davila lifted one eyebrow at Carponti’s feet and said nothing. Carponti looked at his commander and longtime friend, then at the plaque next to his boots.

“Fine,” he said with a sigh, dropping his feet to the floor. “So answer the question.”

Trent sighed. “I can’t go out with you guys. I’m the company commander. I’m not allowed to have fun,” Trent grumbled. “Besides, my boss would have my nuts in a sling if anything happens while I'm there.”

“It’s the last day before our deployment. You’re allowed to have fun. You can just say you’re supervising all of us miscreants.” Carponti took the last Dr. Pepper out of Trent's fridge. “The deployment hasn’t even started and you already look stressed the hell out. You should be working your lieutenant to death instead of trying to do everything yourself.”

Trent shook his head and pushed his glasses to the top of his head. “Yeah, well, my new executive officer seems to think he’s God’s gift to the army. He’s good but he’s not as good as he thinks he is.”

“Oh, the boys just love him,” Carponti said.

“Really?”

“No, not really. He’s an arrogant fuck who believes his own press. Personally, I can’t stand him, but luckily I don’t have to deal with him much. I just sic Sarn’t Garrison on him.”

Trent grinned and reached for the plaque, sliding his hat on top of it so he wouldn’t forget it. “Yeah, Garrison has a way with words.”

Garrison was Carponti’s platoon sergeant. Garrison and Trent had been squad leaders many moons ago when Trent had still been enlisted. In Carponti’s world, it meant a whole lot that Trent had stayed close with his enlisted friends even after he’d crossed over to the dark side and become an officer.

“I’m swinging by his place on my way home. He needs to go out before someone shoots his grumpy old ass. He’s been a complete buzz kill since his wife left him.”

“Your sympathy is astounding,” Trent said dryly. He grinned and shook his head. “Why do we put up with you?”

“Because I’m charming and funny and good in a firefight?” Carponti said with a grin.

“Pretty much. You can make anyone laugh.”

“It’s an important life skill. Like balancing a checkbook. So seriously, find a babysitter and come out with us. Your wife could use some fun before she has to spend the year dealing with all the spouses in the Family Readiness Group and chasing your kids around while you’re off on another fun adventure.”

“I wouldn’t exactly call going to combat a fun adventure.” Trent rubbed his chest. There was a scar there, Carponti knew. A scar that had damn near killed Trent several years ago. Carponti wondered just how much stress his commander was carrying and not telling anyone. Trent’s face flushed when he realized Carponti had caught him rubbing his scar and he tapped the pencil hard enough to snap the eraser off. “You know, you’re right. Let me see if we can’t find a sitter.”

“Excellent. We’ll be congregating by the bar when you get there. Now I just have to go convince Garrison to come out with us.”

“Good luck with that,” Trent said, pulling his glasses down. “He’s on the verge of becoming a warrior monk.”

“Not if I have anything to say about it,” Carponti mumbled as he strolled out of his commander’s office. He wished he hadn’t seen the flicker of worry that flashed in his commander’s eyes when he’d mentioned his wife. He’d thought that Laura and Trent were one of the strongest couples he knew. She’d put up with him deploying back to back to back since he’d almost died a few years ago.

But that flicker of worry? Yeah, Carponti hadn’t missed it. There were problems there, hopefully small ones that Trent would take time to fix after this rotation into the sandbox.
Carponti looked down at his own wedding ring. It was his last night home and his last night with his wife.

He was glad he’d convinced her to come out with him and the boys. That way he could make sure they had a most excellent party and spend time with Nicole at the same time. He was going to spend part of  the night chaperoning his guys to make sure they made the most of it—which meant making sure no one ended up in jail—but then? Then the time he had left was going to be spent making his wife laugh.

Because try though he might, he couldn’t shake the quiet dread that settled in the pit of his stomach that tonight was the last night of normalcy he had on this earth.

Nicole Carponti breathed deeply and fanned her eyes, trying to stop the burning of hot tears. She leaned against the wall of the bathroom in Ropers and tried to stuff down all the churning emotions chained to the fact that her husband was leaving for war tomorrow. Again.

The first time he’d left she’d been scared, but then the war, the deployment…the waiting…it had all been unknown. She’d worked on finishing her degree and kept herself busy and waited by the phone like all the military wives who had gone before her.

The second time he’d left, she’d known better what to expect. The long waits between phone calls. The silence when he couldn’t talk long. The quick e-mails saying “I’m alive” that once upon a time would have been too little, but during the war were more than enough to keep her going.

But this time? This time was different. The Surge was different. They were sending in massive amounts of soldiers to try to quell the Iraqi insurgency. It was bloody and deadly and soldiers were getting attacked at higher rates than at any earlier time during the war.

And Nicole was terrified.

She had to hide it, though. She’d agreed to come out with him tonight just because it gave her a chance to pretend that she was fine. She had to keep everything in check until after he left. She couldn’t let him know how much she worried this time.

Fanning her eyes once more, she stepped out of the bathroom and into the rowdy country bar. A place like this was guaranteed trouble on a normal night, but tonight her husband’s platoon was rolling deep. Which was either going to be a really good thing or a really bad thing for her future job at the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division, depending on how cantankerous tonight got.

She spotted her good friend Laura Davila at the bar with a cute blond woman Nicole had met in the bathroom a little while ago. She had already completely forgotten the other woman’s name. She was terrible with names.

She wound her way through the pulsating crowd until she reached them. Laura grinned at her and she exclaimed, “I can’t believe you came out tonight.”

“You’ve already said this twice,” Laura said. They had to shout to hear each other.

Nicole flagged down the bartender and leaned around Laura to her friend. “I’m a terrible person but I already forgot your name. I’m Nicole Carponti.”

The petite blond held out her hand. “Jen St. James.”

“Nice to meet you, Jen. I won’t forget this time,” Nicole said with a smile.

Laura leaned toward Nicole. “I’m trying to get her out of her shell. She had cancer and she’s been struggling with her self-esteem ever since.”

Nicole frowned, glancing toward Jen, who was now trying to get the attention of the bartender. On the other side of her, though, was Garrison, her husband’s platoon sergeant. He was a big man and he was currently leaning down to talk to Jen. “How’s that for a self-esteem boost?” Nicole said, gesturing toward the two.

Laura glanced over, then quickly looked away before she was caught. Her eyes lit with a brilliant smile. “Oh, that couldn’t be more perfect if I had planned it.”

Nicole studied her friend through narrowed eyes. “Did you plan it?”

“I wish. But let’s just see how this little situation develops, shall we?”

Nicole raised her beer in mock salute to her friend. “You, m’dear, are a devious and loyal friend.”

“I’ll drink to that,” Laura said. “So how’s Carponti taking this deployment?”

Nicole heard the undercurrent in her friend’s voice. “You know how he is. Always cracking jokes, which I suppose is a good thing. I’m fucking terrified, though.”

“Yeah, I know. I’ve been talking to some of the spouses. The Surge has everyone terrified. One of the spouses told me it was a death sentence.” Laura took a sip from her beer, scanning the bar.

Nicole scoffed quietly. “How’s that for melodramatic?” But she didn’t voice her own fear that this deployment was going to be worse than the previous ones. “I don’t envy you as the Family Readiness Group leader.”

“Oh, come on, don’t you want to volunteer? You can be responsible for keeping me from going crazy. It’s a primary duty position, you know.”

Nicole laughed. “Not in this lifetime,” she said. “I always feel out of place once the spouses find out I’m pretty much a cop.”

Jen leaned over, rejoining their conversation as Shane wandered off in the direction of Laura’s husband. “What’s going on over there?” she said, pointing at Laura’s husband.

***

Nicole sighed heavily and took another drink. “Oh joy. Looks like Trent is giving one of his lieutenants some love. Couldn’t have the rest of the night without drama, could we?” She glanced back at Laura and Jen. “We should go interrupt before the second round of fireworks go off.”

Earlier Vic had gotten into an argument with Lieutenant Randall and now it looked like Laura's husband was finishing things off with the arrogant prick. The LT made Nicole’s skin crawl and she wasn’t looking forward to another bar fight. Not two in one night, that was for sure.

But whatever had happened was over now. She watched as LT Randall made a beeline for the door. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Garrison talking to Jen again. And Laura? Once Randall was gone, she and her husband moved off to a dark corner of the bar and were deep in conversation.

She hoped it was a good one. She didn’t like the worry she’d seen in her friend’s eyes when she talked about her husband.

She snuck up behind Vic, sliding her hands over his hips and up his t-shirt and the smooth hard skin of his body, placing a kiss at the little indentation at the indentation between his shoulder blades.

He turned and wrapped his arms around her shoulders. “There you are.” He kissed her fiercely, reminding her of how much she loved this man. “I was about to send out a search party for you in the little girls’ room.”

Nicole wrapped her arms around his waist and lifted her chin to meet his eyes. He was leaner than he’d been when he’d come home last year. His body was more solid from long ruck marches and hard training for this deployment. His eyes, though, were the same bright, mischievous green that they’d always been and she counted herself lucky that whatever he’d gone through in the war, he’d come home okay so far. She just prayed their luck held.

“No search party required,” she murmured against his lips. “I was talking to Laura. I’m impressed that you got Garrison and Trent to come out.”

“You should be,” Carponti grumbled, biting her bottom lip gently. “I had to guilt both of them into it. It’s like they both turned thirty and amputated their fun genes or something.”

Nicole laughed against his mouth. “Dance with me?” she asked.

“What in our history makes you think I know how to dance?” he grumbled even as he allowed her to lead him onto the dance floor.

“You’ll figure it out,” she said, sliding her arms around his neck. She rubbed her body against his, sensuously moving her hips in time with the music.

He dropped his hands to her hips, guiding her exactly where he wanted her. “Keep that up and we’ll have to sneak out to the car,” he said, his breath hot on her ear.

She nibbled on his bottom lip, biting it gently. “I think you’re trying to seduce me,” she whispered. She dug her fingers into his back, her blood humming with latent arousal. God but she loved this man.

“I’m absolutely trying to seduce you,” he said. He angled his thigh between hers, pressing close to the juncture of her thighs. The pressure sent vibrations through her body and straight to her core.

“I’m kind of ready to go home.” Her words were a gasp as he rubbed his thigh against her swollen center. “Before you get into any more fights with your lieutenant.”

“Can we not talk about work when I’m trying to turn you on?” he mumbled. He slipped his hand beneath the hem of her shirt, stroking his thumb down the centerline of her back. A shiver ran through her.

“You don’t want to talk about work? That doesn’t turn you on?” She undulated against him, grateful for the crush of bodies that swayed around them and enabled them to be lost in the crowd.

“No, trying to get you naked turns me on,” he said. “We really need to get out of here.” His breath traced over her ear a moment before he bit her earlobe gently, a fierce burst of pleasure in the pain.

“That sounds like a brilliant idea.”

He sighed as a commotion cleared a corner of the dance floor. “I hate being one of the responsible adults.” He kissed her hard. “Let me get everyone out of here first? That way no one goes to jail on our last night in the States.”

She kissed him fiercely. “I’ll be waiting over here for you to get done being all caveman.”

“I’ll show you caveman later,” he said with a grin before wading into the crowd and diffusing the situation between Garrison and Trent.

It took the better part of an hour before they’d shuffled everyone off to their respective cabs and vehicles. Nicole talked with Laura and Jen and tried not to notice how Jen kept watching Garrison. Oh now wasn’t that interesting?

It felt like forever before her husband strolled across the parking lot and scooped her up, carrying her toward their vehicle.

Their car was parked deep in a shadowed corner of the parking lot, and the moment her husband closed the door Nicole crawled into his lap on the passenger’s seat. He pulled her close, kissing her hard and fast. Pouring a thousand unsaid things into that kiss. His hand threaded into her hair and he slanted her mouth until he owned her—all of her—and she was lost in his taste, his touch.

Then he broke off abruptly. “What the hell?”

“What?”

“Who is that with Garrison?”

Nicole twisted around in time to see Garrison, one of Carponti’s oldest friends, lean in to kiss Jen.

“Oh now that’s interesting,” Carponti whispered.

Nicole spun around. “Don’t you say anything to him,” she said.

“Why not?”

“Because this is the first time Garrison has done anything for himself since his wife left him. Leave him alone.”

Carponti blinked innocently. “What makes you think I would say anything?” he said. His words slurred and Nicole grinned before fishing around in his pockets for his car keys. “A little more to the left.”

Nicole laughed then climbed into the driver’s seat as Garrison stepped back, letting Jen walk to an ancient sedan. “She’s cute. She’s friends with Laura.”

Laura, who was being carried across the parking lot by her husband. She hoped for Laura’s sake the happiness lasted longer than just tonight. The war was taking its toll on everyone, and Nicole had noticed more than once that there was a strain in her friend’s voice when she talked about her husband.

Vic just looked at her. “Oh really?”

Nicole drove them away before her husband could interrupt what had looked like something very sweet between Jen and Garrison. She’d known Garrison as long as she’d known her husband and it was long overdue for him to find someone that made him happy outside of the army.

She glanced at her husband, who had closed his eyes the moment the vehicle started moving, a lazy smile on his lips. Something warm bloomed inside her.

She wished Garrison could find the kind of happy that she had with Vic.

Review: ARC Less Than a Gentleman by Kerrelyn Sparks

Less Than a Gentleman (Historical #2)

by Kerrelyn Sparks

Blurb:

Between searching for the missing Munro sisters and South Carolina being all but lost to the British, Captain Matthais Thomas has more important things to worry about than finding a bride. But his mother has other ideas. When Matthais finds a beautiful woman in his bed who claims to be his betrothed, he is suspicious of her identity…and determined to discover the truth.

Caroline Munro had few options. The British burned down her home, and now, traveling with her very pregnant sister, Caroline is pretending to be someone she’s not so they can have a safe place to rest. But she didn’t count on a matchmaking matron or her rogue of a son…and certainly never dreamed she would fall in love with a spy

Review:

I haven’t read any Historical from Kerrelyn Sparks until this one and it was a delight. This was a well and exciting read. I didn’t even know this was the second book or that there was a first Book! But I was sure happy because now I can read the first book about the elder sister and how her marriage came to be~ originally published as For Love or Country and republished as an Avon Impulse as The Forbidden Lady.

Captain Matthais Murry Thomas does not want to marry, ever! But his mother is a determined woman. She wants to find her only living son a bride, even if it means she has to order one. One evening while returning home from a nights mission against the British he stumbles upon a Lady in his bed. The only problem was she claimed to be his betroth, but he knows she’s a liar. So he plans to go undercover to confront the con lady and kick her and her family out of his family home. But an obstacle got in the way, he was falling for the red headed vixen! And she was the lady he promised to find and protect, a Miss Caroline Munro. But he himself has secrets too, he was also lying to the lady. She though him as a penniless butler, named Haversham, and he wants her to love him as him, not a wealthy son of a plantation with slaves. The bigger problem is, is he willing to fight for freedom and lose her due to the war or fight for freedom and for love?

Caroline Munro is a loose tongue. She speaks her mind and don’t follow orders is easily. Withe her father missing or dead on the battle field, she fears that her brother-in-law is also dead at sea. She’s doing her best to keep her head on straight and protect her very pregnant sister and her young nephew and niece from the war.  Taking shelter at Loblolly House under the disguise as the betroth of the son of the house, she is well safe from harm, for now. Until the so call butler of the house broke into her room. But all is well, he’s no danger to her or her family as she learned to trust him. But she doesn’t want to fall for the handsome and secretive butler no matter how much he pulls at her heart. She didn’t want to deal with heart ache once again, but he wasn’t a soldier so all is well, right?

This was a sweet romance! I loved how there was action, secrets, humor! I most definitely enjoyed the humor. Especially when Matt and Caroline are at the edges of becoming intimate. Both the characters are very likable and Matthais is just~ swoon worthy!  Though at time Caroline poked at my sides in irritation- mostly towards the end- I still adore her as a strong independent and intelligent woman.

Review: ARC Love and Other Scandals by Caroline Linden

love and other scandalsLove and Other Scandals
by Caroline Linden

Release Date: July 30th, 2013

Blurb:

Joan Bennet is tired of being a wallflower. Thanks to some deliciously scandalous—and infamous—stories, she has a pretty good idea of what she’s missing as a spinster. Is even a short flirtation too much to ask for?

Tristan, Lord Burke, recognizes Joan at once for what she is: trouble. Not only is she his best friend’s sister, she always seems to catch him at a disadvantage. The only way he can win an argument is by kissing her senseless. He’d give anything to get her out of her unflattering gowns. But either one of those could cost him his bachelor status, which would be dreadful—wouldn’t it?

Review:

I love Caroline Linden!!! This book was fantastic and I believe it’s a great start in a new series~ It has been a while since I read a book from Caroline -besides her anthology with the famous Four Ladies in their latest At the Duke’s Wedding- but this was a great story!!!

Joan Bennet is a over due wallflower turning into a spinster in her almost-last year of the season in London. She’s too plump to look gentle, too tall for a lady, has no sense of style -due to her mother- making her look like an umbrella in the height of fashion dresses, and her curled hair makes her look like a pudgy child because her hair’s just too straight! Most of all she is too wild! But it’s a good thing she keeps that to herself. But then there is one person who keeps bring out her witty mouth and mind- Lord Boor Burk! His is her brother’s friend and he is no good! But when time is spent alone with him, she feels free and at bliss in his company. Although he is rude and they argue like mad, he is utterly honest. He makes her feel wanted and comfortable in her own skin but she shouldn’t feel any way for him. Yet his challenges are hard to back down from.

Tristan Burke, is a infamous rake known about town and is highly scandalous. An orphan as a child he was free and untamed to do as he pleased. Although his uncle and aunt took him in, life with them was torture. Being unloved and hated by his aunt every minute of the day, he would rather stay with friends for the holidays than return to a home that hates him. But the Bennet’s home was a loving and kind home and he envied his friend of such a family. Although Lady Bennet disliked him his friendship with her son, Douglas was still ever strong. Joan on the other hand was the problem. She was the knife poking at him at every turn, messing with his mind and loose tongue. She was the Fury every gentleman needed to keep away and at a distance, but why does she provoke him to get nearer? Her witty mouth and her unfashionable style just gets him thinking about challenging and teasing her at every chance he gets. But she is forbidden and it gets harder when she keeps thrwing challenges at him at every turn.

This was such a fabulous read that I don’t even remember if I have any bad thing to say about it! Although there were small indications of Tristan being an inventor/scientist. I really would have loved if Caroline went more into depth and explored more of that side of him in the book. Yes, so I do remember something. I would love is Caro had explored that side of him more because there was this one scene where Tristan was inspecting a candle stand or something and it that fascinated him so, and I really wanted for that to have develop in the story further. Joan  sometime got me thinking of her as a teenager too rather than her age of 23-24. Some of the things she thought and said were just too naive and childish. Or was just under her mental capacity that I just couldn’t see that she was my age!

But over all both of the characters were likable and I love their wittiness and banters. Their challenges were funny and entertaining to read and watch. They both have a lot to express and break out of to show their true selves. There are many layers that we had to peel off for Tristan and it was really great to see a soft side of him, although it has always been there from the beginning. Joan is a girl I believe everyone could relate too. She’s bigger than the usual and everything is different about her; not so pretty, too tall, fashionable but her looks and figure doesn’t work with it, she’s witty and secretly scandalous by reading naughty stories. She’s just very loveable!

The secondary characters are lovable! I believe the brother is next in line for his own story if Caroline does draw this out to be a series. Joan’s infamous and scandalous aunt was also lovable and just as witty and wild as Joan. I found myself really wanting to get the story of Joan’s parents. Their story sounds amusing and quite loving from all of the snit bits. It’ll be a great story to read.

All in all, this story was funny, entertaining, witty, full of smarts, and well, there’s a tortured hero. Who doesn’t love that! I can’t wait for the next installment from Caroline!

Review:

This is the 1st book in the Westruthers series (the Westruthers guy cousins) and the 4th book in the Ministry of Marriage series (the Westruthers girl cousins). In the Ministry of Marriage series you have been introduced to many of the characters that will be in the Westruthers series. For this book, Jonathon Westruthers was first introduced in the Ministry of Marriage series book 3, A Duchess to Remember.
~~~
Okay, I have to say that I highly and very likely enjoyed this story. Although I complained to my sister about it more than half way through the book I really enjoyed it. There might, or will be spoilers in this review so be warned! It might also be a rant so also be warned.
Lets start with what I liked.
The story was typical, hero is a titled rake, rogue, scoundrel- everything bad to unmarried and proper young ladies. The heroine is a proper, strong, determined, lady with a bad guardian and uncaring brothers and a falling down home in the country. She gets saved by the scoundrel and taken under the wings by his family and has a come-out into polite society. He has a secret and there is danger lurking in the shadows waiting to pounce and do some damage. Heroine gets mixed into the danger, hero dissuade heroine’s feelings to protect her. Heroine becomes hostage anyway and hero try to be a hero, but heroine saves the day. Hero finally sorts out his feelings and confess, but heroine leaves town rejecting hero’s suit. But in the end they get their HEA! Yay~
The Characters:
I truly adored both characters at different points in the story. I loved Hilary (Honey) deVere from the beginning because she was a strong and determined young lady who was dismissed from her position as a Lady’s teacher at the young ladies school because of her infamous name and ancestors. But she was determined to prove people wrong about her and prove that she’s nothing like her relatives. I loved her sassiness, and boy can she punch! But as the story went on I kind of lost that feeling I had for her. Yes, she changed but she wasn’t that same girl I fell in love with. She became this vulnerable, sensitive, naive, prim and proper young lady that I didn’t quite enjoy. Her sassiness and strong determined will was lost, and a whole new heroine appeared. It was like I didn’t even know who I was reading anymore. My heroine just disappeared.
The hero I found intriguing and fascinating. I liked him from the first page and knew I was going to go through a whole lot of sh!t with him. I knew he was going to be trouble and he was going to be a changed man at the end of the story! I also knew I was going to find out a whole bunch of things about him that will make me swoon and adore him even more (I didn’t read the previous books in the series to know his dark secrets so this was a great chance to know him). But once he met the heroine, I hated him! Everything he did and was doing was going to ruin the girl and I hated that! He was ruining her chances at starting a new life free of her assholes of brothers, a greedy guardian, and her infamous deVere blood! But then we got to see his side of the story; how his family looked down upon him, how society looked down upon him too, and we felt for him because we knew he wasn’t what society deemed him to be because we got to know his secrets and well, we loved him. I stared to adore him again….A little. At the end though, he was a totally different character from the one we first saw at the beginning and well, it was awesome!
Loved the Beginning:
Hero gets drugged by cousins and dumped in the country. He wakes up in a barn bruised and tattered, burrows a horse and rides in the rain to a near town but happens upon a young miss walking in the opposite direction. The young miss has just been dismissed at her position,  is sadden and angry to be returning back to a home which isn’t a home but more like a run down shack to her 2 rake of a brothers. The hero offer a ride and is intrigue of her sassiness and persuades her onto the horse. They banter on the way as he irritates and annoys her and she plays haughtiness to his rudeness. He kisses her and she hits him and they both land in the mud. She storms off home and he follows. She then received a surprised visitor for a new position (hoping to leave the dreaded place) but scared the lights off of her new employer when the heroine attacked (jumping on and punching) the hero (in anger, irritated annoyance and humiliation) upon finding him emerging from her parlor in the arms of 2 naked prostitutes, and referring to her as “Honey“.
What got me complaining to my sister and almost got me to throw the book against the wall in the middle of the night and put it up on the DNF pile! Everything.
Heroine hates Hero, Hero smiles, Heroine’s heart pulse fast, Hero wants Heroine in bed, Heroine’s determined to protect her virtue from the rake, Hero flirts with Heroine, Heroine yells at Hero, Heroine’s determined to find a proper husband in London, Heroine’s guardian and brothers are asses, Hero offers to take Heroine to London, they take off to London, they banter, Hero smiles some more, Heroine thinks him handsome, they play fake husband and wife for one night, Heroine’s deVere guy cousin won’t receive her but he is married to Hero’s girl cousin which will receive Heroine, family intervention on Heroine arrival, guardian to send Heroine back home, they lie about betroth, Heroine get’s to stay,  Heroine won’t sleep with Hero, Hero flirts and tries to seduce Heroine, Heroine’s determined to find suitable mate and determined to prove society wrong about her bad blood, Heroine has to stay virtuous, Hero kisses Heroine, Heroine surrender to kiss and sleeps with Hero, Hero definitely do not want to get married, Heroine still determined to find proper husband……..
Okay, I hope you get the picture. The thing that really got me mad and clenching my teeth and all was when the Heroine slept with the Hero and still thought that she can find a suitable husband and prove that she wasn’t a bad blood, scamming, whore of a deVere. I nearly rip the book in half! What happened to her strong determined woman power? It just all of a sudden vanished into thin air once she got kissed! (Sad to say, she turned into this naive silly lovesick girl).
And then for the Hero to just want to sleep with her at first sight, a proper Lady of the same class and status as him with out thinking about her virtue? Unbelievable! I really liked him and thought that he would be a gentleman as he was meant to be, but when he deflower her and thought not one bit about marriage and doing the right thing I was about had it. I mean come on, all the little things we read about him and how he wasn’t bad like people made him to be, I thought at least he would still keep that part of him but no, it didn’t happen. I understood why but still, like I said, I adored him, but at times, no. I really had hopes for him you know.
Over all, I still really enjoyed this story and Christina is an amazing writer and wow, she can really play with my emotions! The characters were great to follow, although I lost the heroine once she had her passionate night. The hero was great, I adored him but….hmmmm he had so much stuff I can’t even start or how to put it in words.
But this was a really great story with banter, action, sassiness, strong women presence, close family support and understanding, good looking cousins, and just rumble tumble of things that worked and fitted together to form a great and enjoyable read. Even though I had a fit, I still really enjoyed this story and can’t wait for the next book!
